Skyuro Foundation LogoThe Skyline Urology Foundation is a nonprofit (501c3) organization committed to improving urological healthcare for all persons by providing ongoing, comprehensive education about urologic issues and treatment options, with emphasis on education for diverse and multi-ethnic communities. Created in 2014, the Foundation is affiliated with Skyline Urology, the largest group of urology specialists in the Western United States, located in more than 30 offices throughout Southern California.

The Skyline Urology Foundation hosted an educational seminar in 2014 entitled “Sexuality and Intimacy after Prostate Cancer." Our educational seminar featured the following speakers:

Richard David, M.D.

Richard David

Dr. David serves as Chief Medical Officer of Skyline Urology and also holds the appointment of Associate Clinical Professor of Urology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Dr. David completed his undergraduate education at Stanford University and earned his medical degree at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He trained in general surgery and completed his urology residency at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Dr. David’s clinical and research interests include minimally invasive endoscopic treatment for urologic diseases. He has published extensively and presented at many international conferences in this field. Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. David is honored to be named to the Super Doctors® List in Urology five times in recent years. The Consumers' Research Council of America also named him one of America's Top four times.

Leanna Gonzales, MPAP, PA-C


Part of the Skyline Urology team since 2012, Leanna Gonzales is a Physician Assistant who serves patients in General Urology. Her clinical emphasis is in the field of sexual health.

Leanna completed her undergraduate education at the University of California, Irvine, and subsequently earned a master’s degree in physician assistant practice at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.

She has worked in the medical field since 2002, when she started her career as an EMT. She also has worked as an educator teaching classes in CPR and First Aid. Leanna speaks both English and Spanish.

Alec Koo, M.D.


Dr. Koo serves as the Managing Partner of Skyline Urology. He earned both his bachelor’s degree and his medical degree UCLA. He later completed his residency training in surgery/urology at UCLA and also served as Chief Resident in 1992.

Dr. Koo has been affiliated with Skyline Urology since 1992. He also has served as Assistant Professor of Surgery/Urology at UCLA and as Clinical Instructor of Surgery/Urology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA.

Dr. Koo specializes in general urology, urologic cancers, prostate disease, stone disease, incontinence and robotic surgery. Fluent in English and Chinese, he also talks with his Spanish-speaking patients about urologic issues and treatment options in their language.

Timothy Lesser, M.D.


Dr. Lesser is a local product who completed his undergraduate degree at Bowdoin College in Maine. He earned his medical degree at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and completed his urology residency under the guidance of the legendary Dr. Jon Kaswick at Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles. Dr. Lesser received his advanced robotic surgery training at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles, which boasts the highest single-robot surgical volume on the West Coast.

Dr. Lesser's focus is on combining proven oncologic principles with modern, minimally-invasive surgical techniques. He performs both laparoscopic and robotic surgery, caring for patients with cancers of the bladder, prostate and kidney. Dr. Lesser is experienced in all of the state-of-the-art surgical techniques required for excellent outcomes for his patients.

Erica Marchand, Ph.D.


Dr. Marchand provides evidence-based therapy for sexual and relationship concerns, including urologic issues.

She completed her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Oregon. Her graduate work focused on how family, peer, and cultural contexts shape the development of sexual behavior and sexual health. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA.

Dr. Marchand is an expert in improving sexuality and intimacy after cancer treatment for adults. She provides behavioral health counseling and programs to support improved emotional well-being and sexual health for individuals receiving urology care and their partners.

Adam Mogil, M.S., PA-C


Adam Mogil has served patients as a Physician Assistant since 2003, specializing in urology care since 2006. At Skyline Urology his practice centers on general urology, with special focus on care for men with issues affecting their sexual health.

Adam has worked in the medical field since 1990, first as a Pathologist Assistant and later as a certified Histotechnologist. He has trained at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and in community hospitals in the San Fernando Valley.

Adam graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology from California State University, Northridge, and he later earned his master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Western University of Health Sciences in Pomona, California.

Mayank Patel, M.D.


Dr. Patel was born and raised in Lusaka, Zambia, and then moved to the United States to pursue his formal education. He earned his undergraduate degree at Boston University before earning his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. Dr. Patel completed an internship in general surgery and then began his urology residency at UCLA. He also earned the prestigious Willard E. Goodwin Resident Teaching Award.

Dr. Patel’s clinical interests include urologic cancers and robotic urologic surgery. He is one of a handful of surgeons in Los Angeles who can perform robotic retroperitoneal surgery.
